WHAT WE DO

At The City Kitch we’re dedicated to a single purpose — the building and support of the regional culinary community.

We help grow and accelerate food businesses. It's what we do. It's nurturing a small food-business concept into a reality , its assisting growth within our commercial kitchen, its helping a new food truck to get rolling, and its providing a professional kitchen for a home-delivered meal operation or a non-profit summer feeding program.

We believe in the passion and dreams of food entrepreneurs. We believe they’re job creators, problem solvers, innovators and the backbone of a growing economy.

We provide resources beyond our fully equipped, licensed and permitted commercial kitchen facilities. We help entrepreneurs learn or rethink ways to save time, get organized and grow sales. Our extensive and diverse backgrounds, education and experiential knowledge are focused on providing exactly what our clients need so they can spend more time doing exactly what they love.

We understand the joys and pains of entrepreneurship. We’re serial entrepreneurs ourselves and have owned other small businesses throughout our lives. To us, being a part of The City Kitch team means championing our food entrepreneurs and working hard toward their success.

We’re committed to making a positive impact on the lives of each one of our City Kitch community members.

Shared-use kitchens

The majority of each City Kitch facility is dedicated to spacious shared-use cooking areas. In our kitchens you’ll find multiple large prep stations with plenty of space to operate your business.

Our well-equipped hot lines include dozens of feet of commercial exhaust hoods covering a full compliment of high-end commercial kitchen equipment.

Caterers, food trucks, bakers, pastry chefs, personal chefs, food product producers, food artisans, culinary instructors and just about any food-focused business you can think of will find a home at The City Kitch.

We offer up-scale locations, plenty of lighted parking, secure facility access, 24 hour video surveillance and a convenient reservation system that assures you’ll always find your work space ready for use when you arrive.

Private prep suites

Our unique Private Prep Suites are the way to go. These individual spaces are available on a monthly basis and allow our community members the ability to conduct all of their business from one convenient location so you don’t have to haul your business back and forth from your house any more. (We call it “schlepping” and we don’t like to do it!)

You get to choose just how your private suite will be equipped. We outfit each with prep and hand sinks, prep tables, private refrigeration and storage, then you decide what equipment you want to add. A private prep suite allows you to run your entire operation from one convenient location without the overhead of a retail or separate office location.

Of course you’ll have as much time in the kitchen as you’ll need as well….all included in your monthly fees.Your private prep suite will be outfitted exactly as you want it. It’s your space!

Classes

The ServSafe® program at The City Kitch provides food safety training, exams and educational materials to food-service managers. Students will earn the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP).

The program blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. You’ll learn to implement essential food safety practices and create a culture of food safety. All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by food-service industry experts.

The ServSafe® program is developed by the National Restaurant Association with the help of food-service industry experts who face the same risks you do every day.

TESTIMONIALS

don’t take our word for it! Here are some of our happy community members. And no, we didn’t pay them to do this.

There are a lot of great people that work out of this space, which is amazing to see as small businesses grow. The City Kitch has a lot of equipment that makes it convenient to work as efficiently as needed. Whether you are a pastry chef, a food truck, or a meal delivery service, there is space, equipment, and time to help you reach your big goals.

Jamie Pocatko Owner, Chop & Chisel

I was looking for a commercial kitchen in Charlotte, NC that was wheelchair accessible. I remembered a business card I had from a meeting with Dana of The City Kitch for an event I was planning. I called her and explained my needs. She invited me to tour The City Kitch. The facility was exactly what I was looking for; an accessible, clean, conveniently located, friendly environment. The staff is fantastic.

Brenda Bivens Owner, BB’s Krab Kakes

The City Kitch is a complete center of resources for small food businesses. The staff is helpful, organized, and dedicated to growing your company. They went the extra mile and took it upon themselves to help get our truck to the finish line. The City Kitch is a true incubator for small businesses and the community is fortunate to have them.

GRAYSON SHURETT Owner, Taza Food Truck

Not only am I impressed with the sanitation but the organization and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. Every dollar spent is returned ten fold. I Love the owners and staff. I Could not ask for a better facility to work out of.
